Scale questions

Scale questions allow respondents to express their feelings on a given scale. It is an easy-to-understand and simple way to give ratings and collect opinions. The data collected in this way is very reliable.

Slider

The Slider question type allows respondents to rate a value or statement on a numerical scale by dragging an interactive slider.

Slider question example

For the Slider, you can configure the following options:

  • Minimum value – Mandatory integer parameter, such as 0.
  • Maximum value – Mandatory integer parameter, such as 100.
  • Minimum value text – Optional text, such as "Poor".
  • Maximum value text – Optional text, such as "Awesome".
  • Step – The default step is 1 unit, but the minimum can be 0.1 and the maximum 10.

You can also use the following features:

  • Required – Make answering the question mandatory.
  • Description – Add a help text under the title of the question.
  • Sub-questions – Add sub-questions after the question text if you want to collect several answers (for example, you want to ask the same question about three different aspects).

Star rating

The Star rating question type allows respondents to rate an item or statement on a visual scale consisting of stars or hearts.

For the Star rating, you can set the following options:

  • Number of stars – Mandatory parameter. Allowed values: 3 to 10.
  • Shape – Mandatory parameter. Allowed values: star or heart.

You can also use the following features:

  • Required – Make answering the question mandatory.
  • Description – Add a help text under the title of the question.
  • Sub-questions – Add sub-questions after the question text if you want to collect several answers (for example, you want to ask the same question about three different aspects).

Opinion scale

The Opinion scale question type allows respondents to rate a value or statement on a numbered scale.

Opinion scale question example

For the Opinion scale, you can set the following options:

  • Scale from – Mandatory parameter. Allowed values: -5 to 1.
  • Scale points – Mandatory parameter. Allowed values: 2 to 11.
  • Minimum value text – Optional text, such as "Poor".
  • Middle value text – Optional text, such as "Average".
  • Maximum value text – Optional text, such as "Awesome".

You can also use the following features:

  • Required – Make answering the question mandatory.
  • Description – Add a help text under the title of the question.
  • Sub-questions – Add sub-questions after the question text if you want to collect several answers (for example, you want to ask the same question about three different aspects).
  • N/A column – N/A option can optionally be added as the last value of the scale, the text of which can be adjusted if desired (for example, "Don't know").

Net Promoter Score (NPS)

The NPS question type is an Opinion scale with a specific question wording ("How likely would you recommend [product or company name] to a friend or colleague?") and parameters (11 points, scale 0-10). The main difference lies in the way the results are calculated.

The purpose of the NPS is to measure the customer's loyalty to the service provider.
